WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT
Building Careers, Not Just Jobs!
Our workforce development initiatives focus on long-term career pathways rather than short-term training.
We don’t just train workers,
we empower future industry leaders by:

1) Direct Training and Certification Programs
For many Native communities and LIDAC regions, access to traditional banking and financing is limited or nonexistent. We bridge this gap by:
- Solar Installation & Energy Storage Training: Hands-on instruction that prepares participants for careers in solar, battery storage, and microgrid development.
- Technical and Vocational Training: Partnerships with tribal colleges and apprenticeship programs to ensure trainees receive recognized certifications.
- Construction and Infrastructure Skills: Workforce preparation for roles in clean energy construction, electrical work, and project management.
Why it matters: Native and LIDAC communities are uniquely positioned to benefit from the clean energy transition, and our training programs ensure that local talent is at the forefront of this shift.

2) Tribal Workforce Pipeline Development
We work directly with tribal governments, businesses, and utility companies to:
- Match skilled workers with job opportunities in their home communities.
- Develop internship and mentorship programs for young professionals interested in renewable energy and sustainable infrastructure.
- Support tribal utility companies and energy departments in hiring and training Indigenous workforce members.
By aligning workforce development with real industry demand, we ensure that training leads to high-quality, long-term employment.

3) Supporting Native-Owned Businesses
TICC’s workforce initiatives go beyond individual job seekers—we also help Native entrepreneurs build businesses that create jobs within their own communities. We do this by:
- Providing capital and business development support for Native-owned clean energy companies.
- Facilitating partnerships between tribal contractors and large-scale energy projects.
- Offering specialized entrepreneur training programs for Indigenous small business owners in the clean energy and construction sectors.
Our goal is to shift power back to Indigenous communities—not just through jobs, but through economic ownership in the industries that shape the future.
The Impact of Workforce Development
Our workforce initiatives are already driving change, and we’re only getting started. Over the next ten years, we aim to:
🔹 Train and certify 1,000+ workers for clean energy, finance and infrastructure careers.
🔹 Help establish 50+ Native-owned businesses in the renewable energy and construction sectors.
🔹 Create direct employment pipelines with at least 20 tribal energy projects and major industry partners.
Through strategic partnerships, innovative training programs, and direct investment in workforce capacity, Turtle Island Community Capital is ensuring that Native and LIDAC communities are not just beneficiaries of economic growth—but the driving force behind it.
